While walking the Slew Trail along “Dancing Rabbit Creek” at Heronswood this bright, bold bird suddenly appeared and began to squawk and talk with Susan. Since she hadn’t really seen him until now; the irresistible question had to be…. Did he know she had just started his drawing? Surely not! But when he left the creek to fly right in front of her, darting back and forth, laughing, playing the question was answered. Of course he did! From this she found a special kind of inspiration that shines through in this work filled with the bright wonderful energy of this extraordinary bird who dives through the bright colors of fall straight into the hard, cold water of this magic Ozark Mountain stream.
